Notes:
When the sections are prepared - they need to be placed on the grid that will be in the future inserted in the EM column. When the serial sections are being made the investigators would prefer not to loose any image information - then they use slot grids and cover the hole with thin polymer film, on which later collect the sections.
Now - when the tissue is sectioned - sections are usually stained with salts of heavy metals.
