The Script Window

The Script Window is where code is written for such things as navigation, hypertext, pull down menus, movie scripts, initializing variables and all the other functions you want to enable the cast members with. There are many resources available for tips and tricks on writing code in Director, called Lingo, from books in the bookstore to Director Web and the Macromedia site on the internet.
