The Cast Window
The Cast Window is the window in which all your
characters, or players in the movie, are stored. You can create your players in the paint
window or bring them in from other applications such as Photoshop. Copying characters into
the Cast Window from other applications, even other Director movies, is pretty seamless.
You can always use the File menu to bring in characters or if you have a folder open in
which your pictures are stored on the desktop, just drag them over into the cast window.
Cast members do not appear in your movie until you place them either in the presentation
window or in the score. You can create as many windows for cast members as you wish and
name them all differently. For example, it is a good idea to have separate cast windows
for your buttons, moviescripts, graphics, etc.
File formats supported by Director are BMP, GIF, JPEG, LRG (xRes), Photoshop, MacPaint,
PNG, TIFF, PICT, Photo CD (Win), PCX (Win), WMF (Win) PS (Win), Multiple Image files: FLC
(Win), FLI (Win) PICS (Mac), Scrapbook (Mac), AIFF, WAV, QT, AVI (Win), RTF, ASCII and PAL
(Win).
