Final Cut Pro Checklist When using Final Cut Pro (video editor) on the Winogrand system, please be sure to read over this list before starting a new project
-Before digitizing make sure JVC deck is on.
-For playback on VMON 6 (Sony monitor located to the right of the winogrand LCD display) and speakers make sure JVC deck is set to F-1 for display (select by hitting the CH - or + buttons), VMON 6 is on and set to C/SDI (top row of left hand side buttons, 3rd from left). Also make sure the Log and Capture window is closed.
-To ensure proper playback of all sequences: upon creating a new sequence (File->New->Sequence) choose the following options: Frame size: 720x480 NTSC DV (3:2) Pixel Aspect ration: NTSC - CCIR 601/DV Field Dominance: Lower (even) Editing Timebase: 29.97 fps Compressor: DV-NTSC @100% Audio Rate: 48.000 KHz
-To check settings after a sequence has been created go to the Sequence-> Settings menu
-To specify where you want your media to be captured (setting up scratch disks), in the Log and Capture Tool (under the File pull down menu) go to the 'Capture Settings' tab on the top right and click on the "scratch disks" button. When you hit the "set" button, select the drive you want to save your captured media to and the system will tell you how much space is available on that particular drive. 5 minutes of captured media is roughly 1GB.
-It is always a good idea to save movies and your final Cut Pro documents to the same drive where you encoded your captured media. This prevents the system from scanning the drives to find different parts of your project.
-To enable playback on Winogrand's LCD display make sure "mirror on desktop" is selected under Edit-> Audio/Video Settings->External Video tab
