Facility Fees
The following fees are in effect for use of the Microscopy Suite and VMIL and for purchase of services and materials. Rates listed are effective as of September 1, 2006.

Notes:
* The fee listed per hour is in addition to the fee charged per hour on the equipment, and is in addition to any necessary consumables such as film and Si probes.
General consulting does not include occasional help provided by our staff during normal business hours. The consulting fee applies to consulting outside normal business hours, or consulting provided as part of a special project.
Special services are also sometimes provided on a case by case basis and as time permits. Details may be found on the special services page.
VMIL Fees
Due to high maintenance costs and our mission to provide the best equipment possible, certain pieces of equipment and certain services require additional fees for use beyond the VMIL entry fee. These additional fees are listed in the table below.

Notes:
1 The monthly entry fee is based upon actually entering the lab. If you do not enter the VMIL during a month, you will not be billed for that month. Entering the lab once is the same as entering the lab hundreds of times in a given month: the fee remains the same. There is no need to deactivate your user account because of a planned period of inactivity (unless you are leaving the university).
2 Consulting is training or help used beyond general introductory training or regular help for software and hardware in the lab. This is consulting that is in-depth, usually taking hours or days. Examples: customized and extensive Amira training for your specific project, in-depth repeated walkthroughs on Final Cut Pro. 1 hour minimum.
3 Services is basic, non-creative production work, such as tape duplication, 3D file conversions and adjustments, 2D scans, etc. 1 hour minimum.
4 Production is creative production work, such as 3D modeling for publicaiton images, graphics production, animation, or video production (filming, editing, etc.). 1 hour minimum.
** If Beckman Affiliates intend to take equipment off-campus, please have that pre-approved by ITG staff before signing out the equipment. Projects unrelated to the Beckman Institute may incur a rental fee.
