Microenvironment Beneath a Chrysanthemum LeafESEM image, in wet mode, of the underside of a fresh, uncoated Chrysanthemum leaf. Stomates can be seen on the surface of the leaf, and trichomes bearing tiny frond-like structures project from that surface. The frond-like structures may aid in the creation of a microenvironment that protects the stomate openings. Image Courtesy: Dean Karres Contact: karres@uiuc.edu |
