Antenna of a House Caterpillar

Image acquired by Scott Robinson using the ESEM in high vac mode. This is a 6500x magnification of a spot on the antenna of a house caterpillar. The diameter of the white filament near the base is ~2µm. The specimen was prepared normally in a gold-palladium coating.
