Head Louse Nit with Embryo

Head lice (Pediculus humanus capitis) a parasitic insect that lives in the hair and scalp of humans. This is an image of a head louse nit still attached to a hair. Head, thorax, legs and abdomen can be seen inside the egg (nit). The image was taken with the fluorescence microscope in the microscopy suite. It is a projection of 24 images from a 93 micron thick Z-stack.
